Private Swaps

Do a Private Swap

A private swap is a guided, sign-as-you-go flow. Nothing leaves your wallet until the deposit step, and every action is something you explicitly approve. Here's the full walkthrough.

Two places to do this
You can run this exact flow either in the main app — at app.topazdex.com, toggle Swap Private (the URL changes from /swap to /privacy) — or on the dedicated site at privacy.topazdex.com. Both use the same backend and the steps below apply to either. Two differences worth knowing: the privacy-level selector is available only on the dedicated site (the in-app toggle uses the default Strong level), and order history and recovery always happen on the dedicated site.

Step by step

  1. 1Open the app. Either toggle Swap Private at app.topazdex.com, or open privacy.topazdex.com directly. Then Connect Wallet.
  2. 2Choose your swap. Pick the token and amount under You send, pick the token they should get under Recipient receives, and paste the 0x… recipient address (your own or someone else's). You can adjust slippage in either place; the privacy level can be changed on the dedicated site (the in-app toggle uses Strong).
  3. 3Get a private quote. Topaz shows the deposit amount, fees, recipient, privacy level, and max slippage.
  4. 4Sign in. Your wallet asks you to sign a message to prove ownership. This is free and is not a transaction.
  5. 5Save your recovery phrase. At quote time, Topaz shows a recovery phrase. Copy it and keep it safe — it's your backup key to recover funds if a swap ever stalls. You can also recover without it, but saving it is the guaranteed fallback.
  6. 6Approve the order. You'll sign the private order and one or more deposit authorizations. Still no funds have moved.
  7. 7Send the deposit. Approve the deposit transaction(s) in your wallet. This is the step where funds actually leave your wallet. Your wallet may switch networks during this step — approve it.
  8. 8Track to completion. Watch the progress bar as your swap moves through its stages. When it reads complete, the recipient has been paid.
You can close the page after the deposit
Once the deposit is sent, the swap continues on its own. You can leave the page and check on it later from your order history.
The recovery phrase is yours alone
Topaz never stores your recovery phrase — it's shown to you and saved only in your own browser. Treat it like a seed phrase: anyone with it can move funds from the temporary recovery accounts.

Tracking your swap

After you submit your deposit, the swap moves through these stages:

1

Order created

Your order is registered.

2

Deposit submitted

Your deposit transaction has been sent.

3

Deposit detected

The network has confirmed your deposit.

4

Processing

The private route is executing and the recipient is being paid.

5

Complete

Done. The recipient has received their tokens.

If something goes wrong
The swap shows Failed or Refunded instead, and your funds remain recoverable. See Recovery & Refunds.
