FAQ
Quick answers to the most common questions about Topaz, mainnet status, fees, voting, and how to participate. Bigger questions live in the rest of the docs — this page is the index.
Protocol
What is Topaz?
Topaz is a ve(3,3) AMM and liquidity-governance protocol on BNB Chain. TOPAZ holders lock for veTOPAZ and vote on which pools receive emissions. Projects bid for those votes via on-chain incentives. LPs earn emissions; voters earn 100% of trading fees plus bribes. See the Overview for the full picture.
Is mainnet live?
Yes. The protocol is deployed on BNB Chain (chain ID 56) and the app at app.topazdex.com is live. Swaps, concentrated liquidity, v2 stable / volatile pools, gauge voting, and bribe markets all work today. Every deployed contract is on the Contracts page with verified BscScan links.
Has Topaz been audited?
Yes. Topaz core contracts were reviewed by Shieldify Security. The full report is published on the Security & Audits page with a link to the PDF on Shieldify's public portfolio.
What chains is Topaz on?
BNB Chain only. Topaz is purpose-built for BSC's low gas and sub-second blocks (~0.45s after the Fermi upgrade). Pre-mainnet, the sacrifice event happened on Abstract — but the protocol itself runs entirely on BNB Chain. See Airdrop & Sacrifice for that history.
Is the code open source?
Yes. The core protocol is built on the Solidly / Velodrome / Aerodrome lineage, and Topaz Slipstream is forked from Aerodrome Slipstream. The full contract source is verified on BscScan for every address listed on the Contracts page.
Using Topaz
Which wallets are supported?
Anything that supports BNB Chain — MetaMask, Rabby, Trust Wallet, Coinbase Wallet, OKX Wallet, hardware wallets (Ledger, Trezor) via WalletConnect or browser extensions, and most major mobile wallets via WalletConnect.
How do I get started?
Read the Quick Start guide. It covers swap, LP, lock, and vote in five minutes.
What's the difference between v2 and Slipstream pools?
v2 pools are constant-product (volatile) or stableswap (stable), like Uniswap V2 / Solidly. Slipstream pools are concentrated-liquidity, like Uniswap V3. You can use both on Topaz; they have separate routers and different LP flows. See AMM & Pool Types for when to pick which.
What's the swap fee?
Defaults: 0.05% on stable pools, 0.30% on volatile v2 pools. Slipstream pools default to 0.01% / 0.05% / 0.30% / 1.00% depending on tick spacing (1 / 50 / 200 / 2000). All fees are customizable per pool by the protocol fee manager up to a 3% cap. See Pool Fees.
How much can I earn LPing?
It depends entirely on the pool, the volume, the gauge votes, and the bribes attached. The app shows projected APR for each pool / position based on the most recent epoch's emission and fee data. Past performance isn't future yield, but it's the honest baseline.
veTOPAZ & Voting
How does locking TOPAZ work?
Lock 1 week to 4 years. Longer lock = more veTOPAZ voting power (1:1 at 4 years, 0.25:1 at 1 year). veTOPAZ earns fees, bribes, and rebases. See veTOPAZ Locks for the full state machine.
Can I exit a lock early?
No — TOPAZ stays escrowed until the lock end. You can transfer / merge / split the veTOPAZ NFT itself, but the underlying TOPAZ is not accessible until the unlock date. Permanent locks can be voluntarily un-permanented (which converts to a 4-year decaying lock), but only if you haven't voted in the current epoch.
How often do I need to vote?
Once per epoch (one week) is the maximum frequency. Unchanged votes carry over to the next epoch automatically, so you can vote once and continue earning indefinitely if your preferences don't change. Reset and re-vote whenever you want to change allocations.
What's a bribe?
An incentive deposited to a gauge to attract votes. Voters who vote for that gauge during the epoch claim the bribes pro-rata in the following epoch. Topaz uses "bribe" and "incentive" interchangeably. See Incentives (Bribes).
Safety & Support
Where do I get help?
Fastest: ask in Telegram. Follow @TopazDex for announcements. Do not DM anyone claiming to be team — we will never ask for seed phrases, private keys, or approvals.
How do I spot phishing?
Only official URL is app.topazdex.com (and www.topazdex.com for these docs). We don't run an ICO. We don't sell TOPAZ via private sale. We don't run airdrops that ask you to connect or sign 'eligibility checks'. Anyone DMing you claiming to be team is impersonating.
What are the risks?
Smart-contract risk (despite audit), impermanent loss on LP positions, governance risk (parameters change), oracle manipulation risk on TWAP-dependent integrations, and jurisdiction-specific regulatory risk. See Security & Audits for the full disclosure.
Why BNB Chain?
Low gas, ~3-second blocks, mature wallet support, and deep stablecoin liquidity. The infrastructure is well-suited to high-frequency LP management, frequent voting, and the kind of small-trade volume that compounds into meaningful fee revenue for voters.
